Systems
Change
Disparities in maternal and reproductive health outcomes in the US largely stem from structural racism that reinforces the inequitable distribution of healthcare, economic, and social resources.
Rhia Ventures is a leading voice across the multiple ecosystems in which we operate to educate values-focused investors about the root causes of health disparities and effective tools to operationalize racial and gender equity for wider adoption and coordination. Rhia offers frameworks and resources, narrative shifts, and convenings that present alternative decision-making approaches for deploying capital.
Our systems change strategies include:
- Education: To bring our strategic analysis on racial equity, gender equity, and health equity to community and institutional audiences for wider adoption and coordination.
- Awareness Building & Thought Leadership: To increase visibility of our mission, strategies, and offerings – and to drive interest in those offerings while creating a broader movement around our work. We provide subject matter expertise on issues related to our mission, including racial equity, health equity, women’s health, reproductive health, maternal health, capital access, innovative finance, and social innovation.
- Tools & Frameworks for Decision-Making: To provide stakeholders with a high-level entry point into Rhia’s systematic approach to operationalizing equity and field-wide impact measurement and accountability. These are practical, actionable resources that investors and organizations can adopt to shift their processes and practices.
- Research & Data for Action: To conduct original research that further outlines the problems Rhia is looking to solve and the unique role of our work toward solutions.
Shifting How Capital Flows in Reproductive and Maternal Health
The reproductive and maternal health ecosystem is shaped by who holds and has access to capital. Rhia Ventures convened an expert panel to trace the capital chain examine where investment is and is not flowing in reproductive and maternal health. The program introduced a framework for understanding what patient, flexible capital makes possible and explore how investors can begin to shift their approach.
